Producer Rack

Methodology

Every spec here was read off the developer's own page.

Producer Rack compares music software on the facts that decide a purchase: what it costs, whether there's a free version, which plugin formats it ships in and which computers it runs on. Here's where those facts come from.

How a product gets on the rack

  1. 1

    Pick what producers search for

We add the DAWs, plugins and controllers people actually look up, plus free plugins worth installing. Readers and developers can suggest more.

  2. 2

Read it off the developer's site

Price, free version, trial, plugin formats and supported OS come from the developer's own product and pricing pages. Every review links its sources at the bottom.

  3. 3

    Leave unknowns blank

If a developer doesn't publish a price, the display says PAID and the page says the price isn't published. We don't guess or copy reseller prices.

  4. 4

    Recheck and date it

Prices and formats change, so every page shows when it was last checked. Current data: September 2026.

How to read a listing

LEDs

VST3supportedAUsupportedAAXnot supportedCLAPsupportedWINsupportedMACsupportedLNXsupported

A lit LED means the developer lists that plugin format (VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP) or operating system as supported. A dark LED means it isn't listed. Other platforms, like iOS or the browser, appear after the plus sign.

Price display

FREE$99once$249once

FREE means a free version you can keep using. Otherwise it's the cheapest way to buy: once for a one-time license, /mo or /yr for subscriptions. Prices are in the developer's listed currency and exclude temporary sales.

How lists are ranked

Editor-written lists, like the best DAWs, rank software by fit for that job, not by popularity or size. Each pick says why it made the cut.

Filtered lists, like free synth plugins for Linux, include every product that matches the filter and follow the order of our editor-written lists.

What we won't do

Spotted a wrong price or a missing plugin?

Developers and readers can email contact@producerrack.com. Include a link to the official page and we'll update the listing.
